Thor and Crusher on a roll in South Korea

Iceland‘s first feature length animated film has a great opening weekend in South Korea.

The great film Legends of Valhalla – Thor premiered last week in South Korea and the reception has been great.

The animated film was the most sought foreign film in South Korea last weekend and Thor and Crusher, the magic hammer, got the better of amazing films such as Star Wars: episode 1 in 3d, War Horse, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Happy Feet 2. Not only did the friends from Valhalla come crashing like a thunder to the attendance lists but they have already almost doubled the attendance number of the sequel Happy Feet 2 despite it having been shown for two weeks. The total box office of the weekend for Legends of Valhalla adds up to just over 1,1 million euros.

The distributors in Korea went all in with our film and recruited the popstar Haha to star as the voice of Thor and they have spared no expenses in the promotion.

The film is produced by CAOZ with Ulysses in Germany and Magma in Ireland as co-producers. The film premiered in Iceland on the 14th of October and has already been sold to close to 60 countries. South Korea is the first country outside of Iceland to premiere the film and according to the reaction the future is bright for Thor, Crusher and friends.
